Sps lighting

You looking to grow some sticks? Right now the popular setup for those buying right now with those who have the money for it is t5 with LED supplementation. Next in I would say are t5 and LED independent systems, then mh/t5 supplementation. There those on a budget who rock the Chinese LED.
Bottom line, you can grow sticks with a wide range of lighting options.

I just went from MH to MH LED combo. I used my old 150w MH/ PC combo Coralife fixture and gutted the PC. Then installed some DIY LEDs on some aluminium plate. My tank seems to be loving the extra par that the LEDs have added.

I used bridgelux royal blue and 10k white, as well well as elipse UV for a hint of purple.

I got the dimmable kits from aquastyle.

Nice. What MH buibs are you using.

I am thinking of doing the same thing. I am using MH and love it for the growth I am getting but the colors don't pop like they do under LED lighting.

6 Bulb T5 with a ReffBrite XHO LED on the way next week.. Just switched over from Kessil LEDs a little over a month ago, and already corals are displaying colors never seen under my kessils.

Seen amazing setups using MH, T5's and LED's!! All of these 3 fixtures will do great results but you need to have your parameters in check 1st..

I personally like T5's better as I can play with the spectrum.. Had a TEK 8 bulb fixture on a 75gal!!

But yet again I started slow and avoided buying name brand fixtures with high $$$ signs..lol!

This is a picture of my tank!

T5s seem to be the best old school way to illuminate your tank, but I'm pretty happy with Kessil. My SPS is doing pretty well

When I started in this hobby 4 years ago I started with t5 went to 250w mh then to LEDs. I went back to metal halides with t5 supplement. There is something missing from the leds that I couldn't get with the metal halides. My growth was better and colors came out better in my opinion. Here's what my tank looked like before leaving PHOENIX in November

Not to hijack the thread, but what intensity and saturation do you run your Kessils at? I'm struggling with SPS with mine.

Here you go. The PAR reading is probably not super accurate because I don't have the sensor properly positioned right now
