SPS...Non-Photosynthetic mixed reef build

Is the attic built on top of the roof rafters or is it an actual floor joist? If rafters then id be weary since they are likely loaded heavily as it is with the roof and the attic. Is there a load bearing wall under where the tank is going? You should get an engineer to look at it if you dont have the homes blueprints.

That is a very good point about the mangroves leaning over, I hadnt really thought about that. and Im not sure about the floor to be honest. My friends dad who is remodeling the house is an engineer and he hasnt said anything to worry me but ill ask specifically..and ill mention the roof load which I never thought of.. the house is ranch style with the attic converted. I think Im using this as an excuse to have a frag tank lol.

kaserpick! Thanks man hope your well, and im pretty excited. I have had this plan in my head for ages and looking at all the damn NPS corals in the store closed up for no joke a year but still alive..how?! made me finally do it.

ohhh, yeah im not thinking its gonna be a great idea to have lots of water up there without added support. Typically, the trusses are hardly designed to hold the load of the attic letalone an attic full of water!

Ok so good news, the house is old..but was designed as a 2 story..the upstairs just looks like a converted loft. Found out that the floor joists are roughly 16" apart from center and the joists are a solid 2" as opposed to the 1.5" they are these days. I was assured the floor will hold no problem so all is a go. Frag tank it is! thanks for bringing that stuff up coz you never know these days.
