sps not looking good

I have a tendency to never give up on a coral that's struggling. I had an LPS that was slowly withering over the course of about 10 months. Then, one day it just started looking better. It's still a lot smaller than it used to be, but it is growing back and starting to fill in. I still have no idea what suddenly turned it around.

If there is anything at all left on the skeleton it probably can be "saved." It doesn't take much to start growing most things back once they are stabilized. The issue is what it will look like until it can grow back...

That does give me some hope that I might be able to pull these corals out of the brink of death. I got a skimmer last night from Brandon and it has already pulled a bunch of gunk out. I had I guess what was a nuisance algae but i really did not know it was an algae. I never could find a picture of it. It was not red and slimy but it was red and hard and it kinda spread like a net. And it would spread fast. But i woke up this morning and every bit of it is almost gone. So that might have been part of my problem here. Guess I will just wait and see what happens from here.

I take that back every bit of it is not almost gone but a great deal of it is. I was looking with the lights off so it was hard to see. But it still a significant improvement. I am just really hoping that I ma able to save these corals. That would be great.

Glad you're seeing an improvement, although I almost doubt its the skimmer being that quick, but I guess it could be!

Is it still working well for you? They're good skimmers for small tanks. :)

I may not be able to contribute it directly to the skimmer. I know that the bottle i had it draining into was full when i woke up in the morning. BUt at any rate the skimmer is working great. I think it will help a lot. It is pulling some nasty looking green stuff out.
