SPS Quarantine Tank

I am setting up a 20 gallon QT for corals and SPS will be a big part of that. I have a couple of powerheads, heater, hob filter (can I get away without a skimmer on it) What I don't have yet is lighting. What lighting should I use for it? I do not want to go cheap and put the corals in danger.

You don't need a skimmer in a quarantine. the HBO and water changes should take care of excess waste... For lighting I would go consider a reef breeders value fixture. For the price you cant go wrong.

I would run whatever lighting you have over your main tank on the QT if possible.

I run AI Vega colors on my 180 gal DT but don't really have that much for the QT tank. The Reef Breeders value led does look interesting and certainly a LOT easier on the wallet!

My coral qt, is a 29 gallon with a little live rock and a frag rack with a hang on bag aquaclear that I run a little carbon and gfo. My lighting is a 4 bulb tek t5 fixture. Seems to work great for me.

How many of you use any live rock in their SPS QT tanks?

I have a hang on back aquaclear I can use for it.

Just need to decide on T5 or LED that will fit the 24 " QT.
