SPS suggestions

I am finishing a cycle on a 40 breeder. Looking to do softies and SPS. Any ideas for rare and extremely colorful stuff. I am not looking for the everyday common stuff. I want the wow factor.

Just gonna come with searching the forum and picking out your favorites honestly. It's more environmental than anything though. Even the most exotic rare and colorful acros can look brown and ugly in the wrong conditions and vice versa, coming both from anecdotal evidence and personal experience.

Popular standards that are flat out hard to beat and some of my personal favoeites:

Montipora setosa
Mind trick montipora
Montipora undata
Red planet acro
Cali tort
Oregon tort
Hawkins blue echinata
Candlelight acro
Green slimer
Superman montipora
Sunset montipora
Tricolor valida
Garf bonsai
Blue bottlebrush
Red dragon acro
Joe the coral
Frogskin acro

Those are a few off the top of my head that I enjoy owning or hope to own.

Best advice I can give on finding fantastic colored sps are to browse your local reef club sale threads and just see what is available and pick up what you like. I grabbed Oregon tort, cali tort, and rainbow montipora having never even heard of them, but was floored at how amazing they looked in person that I had to buy them on the spot.

That's one way...another funny way (which won't give you many clever names, just a color, genus, and species) is browsing the Live Aquaria Divers Den sps page. Some of the most fantastic sps pieces I've seen have been on there oddly enough.

With your current filtration I would stick with montipora, birdsnests, pocilliporas.

I would let the tank mature quite a bit more before trying anything expensive and "rare." You could try some of the easier ones that dowtish mentioned, but I would give it at least a good 6 months before spending any serious coin.

Theres tanks that i added SPS in one day and did perfect. i used 30 lbs of rock from another tank and about 50 gallons of the 90 total.

just keep those parameters stable.
