I know a guy that tried it for a while, his colors always sucked and eventually lost all his sps. On the other hand i have 12 fish in my 75 barebottom sps dominated with great results.
Anyway I just started up some SPS and have no fish. I am curious about this as well. I have been dosing amino acids for a while (before I got sps) and it really makes my softies and chalice pop IMO. Wonder if this will help my situation.
i dont think fish are needed but it helps to supply your corals with a source of food somehow. the aa should help. i tried to feed rots and oyster eggs every once in a while which i think helped but mainly i just keep my params in check.
