SPS tank with ZERO feeding?

So I am thinking about setting up a small 40 breeder to house just sps. My main tank is down to two fish and I am coming to realize that I just don't really want to keep frozen and pellet foods and feed the fish. Also a constant battle with algae has been the norm for me in this hobby even with a great skimmer and two fish I am still having algae. I want my new tank to be fish free and sand free. Thinking just LR and SPS. What kinds of problems will I run into if there is no nutrient input? Just a fresh clean fill up with new saltwater. Put in cured LR and add the SPS. Top of with Kalk.
Anyone done this before can offer experience?
Thanks
Ross

I did it with a small 20g and one fish that ate pellets only.
water quality was perfect but my sps faded in color. So i realized you need to find a balance. you could just remove your remaining fish, keep you CUC and run gfo. Let the tank clean itself up.
I like sand and the inverts that come with it. I've only kept BB in the past and love sand now.
My tank was in bad shape after the storms in the NE this past year. And that's what i did.
Just one fish until all the algae was gone. I manually removed a lot of it but the tank cleaned up in a month or so. now i just restocked it and everything is growing fast. But i need the fish to add a little nutrients to the tank.

I guess you could also just feed a coral food like oyster feast or roti feast and forget the fish. it's all up to you.

Personally, I love inverts. The way i see it, is the fish get you to look at the tank but the inverts keep you there...looking around and captivating you. :)

IMO you need a good amount of fish poop and/or food to keep SPS healthy. Too little and you get faded color and slow growth. I feed my tank tons of food and manage it by use of big skimmer, GFO, and carbon, and the SPS looks great!! Growth is almost so fast that it's become a problem (having to frag a lot!) and color is great.

Your idea is basically a frag tank with live rock instead of egg crate, easily done but you should feed them atleast twice a week it will benefit them much more than going foodless
