i was thinkinf about buying a squamosa or a hippopus clam from my lfs for my 55 gallon reef. so far i have 1/2 and 1/2 actinic and white light (260 W.) will this be enough?

most people wouldn't suggest it but i had 2 squamosa's under 260w of pc's and had very good growth with mine but just recently added 2 175w mh 20k and my clams (all 6 of them) have grown tremendously, but it can be done speaking upon my own experience just keep the cal up and alk stable and use DT's (which is the key to lower lightings).

I agree. Keep your calcium between 400 and 450. You only really need to feed the clams DT's if they're small ( 3" or less).
