squamosa at war

Tonight I noticed for the first time since I have had my clam... approx 6 months that it was not out. With further examination I saw many little white cone shaped snails. There were about 15 or so and they were about 1-3mm in length.
I have spent the last 1/2 hour or so picking them off the squamosa. I have removed all of the snails that I could see from the shell and around the edges of the mantle. I did miss one that fell into a large patch of caulerpa and rock which is four inches or so away from the clam.
My question now is what are these little b@st%rds? Any info would be great on how I can get rid of them, how bad are they, and will my clam make it?! Thanks

They will kill your clam in a matter of hours if they're able to attack it succesfully. I would quarantine your clam if at all possible...or it will be killed overnight.

Crap.... These are the cone snails. I don't have a quarintine tank that is ready for my clam so I will leave it up to my foreceps and my six line to do battle.
Are the cone snails most likely to feed at night? Is there any other good bio control that I can use? Thanks for the responces.

This is not true. They are not that lethal. They will drain fluid and nutrients from your clams. They multiply very fast and will kill your clam if uncheck. Large clams will take longer. If you put two snails on a helathy 3 inches growing Crocea, it take several months for the snails to reproduce enough to kill the clam.
