Squamosa clam question

Hi all

I purchased a squamosa clam about a month ago. The clam seems fine. Good color good extension and reacts to changes in light. The only thing is that the exhale siphon has gotten shorter and seems to be opening up more. Is this normal and if not what could be the cause and what can I do?

The excurrent siphon (tubular shaped one) can change lengths and widths. My squam changes this all the time, I guess it depends on the amount of flow he's pumping through. A picture would help to be sure this is what your describing though.
