Squamosa vs. Maxima growth?

I got both of these clams about a month ago or a little more and both are the same size, but so far it seems like the growth on the squamosa is just insane

Since I got them the squamosa has added new scutes (1 layer) and is already on its way to making the second layer.. my maxima on the other hand hasnt grown much or any?

Is that common for both clams?

Yes Squamosa's do grow about twice as fast as Maxima's

i dont have a camera at the moment. do the squamosas attach to anything? Ive had this guy on the sandbed and he cant stand being on sand alone, he has to be on sand and against the glass. he is always switching 180 degrees each day in the same spot

they do when small but will get to a size where they rely on shell scutes and or weight to anchor themselves. place a piece of coral rock or shell, etc., just below the sand surface under your squamosa.

ill go ahead and do that, hopefully thatll keep it from moving so much
