SRO 2000 vs RO Regal 170

I have a 93 gallon display with a 75 gallon sump and I'm looking for a new skimmer. The tank is fairly new and lightly stocked but that is apt to change. I don't like the look of an overstocked tank, so I will probably end up with a medium bioload.

Right now I'm between a SRO 2000 and a RO Regal 170INT. Any thoughts on which skimmer would be better for my system?

Right now they are the same price at BRS.

The SRO 2000 is too big for your system. I had one on a 120 and had to replace it. I'd look into Aquamaxx, Nyos or even better Lifereef or Bubble King.

I run a SRO 2000 on my 125 with 5 good sized fish(4 tangs and a trigger) and 4 normal size fish and it keeps up with no problems.
I do have to say fore it has been a great skimmer.

Go with the Regal 170 , it's a much better balanced skimmer. It a very good skimmer.

This was the information I received from Coralvue regarding the SRO2000 for my 120. Note on their website they do now state minimum 150g heavy.

Thanks for the input so far. I definitely still have some things to think about. I've heard that a skimmer should be rated at twice your display volume, I've heard twice your total system vovlume, and that you should follow manufacturer specifications. I wouldn't mind saving some money by getting a smaller skimmer but I certainly don't want to get one that is underpowered either. I'm currently running a RO NWB110 from my setup and its definitely too small for the system. I'd also like to take a step up from the entry level skimmer.

If it helps (probably doesnt) I run a sro3000int on a 500l (132USG) mixed reef display with currently 3 fish, 2 of which are quite large. It runs smoothly and consistently and pulls a good load of smelly black waste in a week.
Technically it is oversized but I have always gone this way.
