SRO 2000int protein skimmer help!

I've been running a SRO 2000 for over 4 months, it broke in after two months and started pulling some nice skimmate out. But now it's pulling out tea color skimmate and filling one or two collection cups a day. My valve is fully open. I disconnected the air silencer today and it helped stop filling the collection cup. But now my skimmer is super loud! How can I silence it?

Have you tried adjusting the height of the skimmer in the water?

The pump is only two inches below water but I guess I can try lifting it an inch
