Im running it in a 185 gallon system lightly stocked at this time. Sump water level 6 inches. Where should the water line be in the skimmer?. I have the bubbles popping at the bottom of collection cup at this time. I will be looking to have about 30 fish in this system. Is the skimmer to much for this system?

That's a good starting point, but it wouldn't surprise me at all if you have a very hard time dialing in this skimmer on that size of system. It's definitely oversized in my opinion.
