SRO xp1000sss Problems

Hi All~

I just recently picked up an SRO xp1000sss and cant get the thing together. First problem is the pump/skimmer union. This union is so tight, you'd practically have to hammer it in. No I didn't do that, but seriously considered it. Even with a little oil to aid the connection, you have to press with all your might and even then it barely fits.
:angryfire:
Secondly, the pump doesn't fit up into the bottom far enough for the inlet to clear the hole! I've measured and as you can see from the pics, there's just no possible way using the union works at all! ***!

Am I doing something wrong here? There were no extra parts included and I am seriously getting ticked.

And to top it off, I received it on a Friday afternoon, so will have to wait until Monday to be able to contact anyone! So I'm turning to you. My knowledgeable peeps online for any help you have to offer.

Thanks!!

Can you take a picture of everything you received? I had the 3000sss model and it was very easy to setup. You should have a bottom plate that the pump screws into.

Looks like you got the wrong adapter on the pump. I recently got a sro1000int and it came with a piece like opusthepenguin has when it needed the one that you have. I contacted Jeremy here in the coralvue forum and he sent me the union right away.

Thanks for the input guys. Opus- I didn't get the union in your pictures. That's exactly the price I would have expected to get. And I wish I could take extra pictures of all the parts I received but there are no extra parts. Lol

I'll post to Jason in the coralvue forum to see if he can help.

Thanks all!

I think the thing is you have a retail pump. Seems, when they sell the pumps it comes with a union setup and when it comes with the skimmer it just has a grey bushing that slides right in.

I'm sure Coralvue will jump in.

Good luck with it!

But I did get the skimmer with the pump as a single package together. I think it was just a mistake by including the wrong adapters.

GL with this mine is like everyone's else with the bushing that slides in, only issue I'm having is its in 6" of water and I have to have the gate valve almost completely closed to build the head.

Yeah, I was thinking maybe they put the retail pump box in with the skimmer instead of the one for the skimmer.

I would call first thing in the am so they could get one out to you if that is the issue. Sucks that the little plastic thing is holding you up. You could still run the pump in a bucket of SW to break in until the part comes.

I thought the sump savers ran in deeper water. the 5.75" - 6" was for conventional designs. not sure since i don't have an SSS.

FWIW my XP is at 5.75" and would run fine at 7" - 8". Like you i have the valve closed almost all the way.
