Stand Design - Suck at Carpentry, OK with sketchup

The drilling doesn't bother me (although it would be by far the largest tank I have ever drilled), but where would you put the actual overflow, and where would you drill the holes? I'm not a fan of putting them on either side since they would be visible, and something across the back would be a beast. I'm assuming the bottom would be tempered, but to be honest I am not sure.

You can see internal overflows. You can see all overflows. :) I have a peninsula. I drilled mine on the short side. I'd rather have pipes on the outside that you can see than on the inside (black plastic included) that you can see! I also prefer more real estate in the tank. Corner overflows take up more space.

If you go with the beananimal, read through his guide here His thread was so popular he made a website with the guide.

Here is a pic of my CTC on the short end. A note to anyone reading: Never use mirrors for internal glass. I had to cover the bottom part of the overflow because the fish were attacking the mirror non stop...

I did something similar in my last build, running two tanks through 4 drains into a pair of 1.5" flex runs about 15' into a remote sump - I was just missing the "tuning" overflow so it had to be painstakingly tuned or it would use the emergency overflow and get noisy. The build thread is still somewhere in the large tanks forum. I will almost certainly be doing a proper beananimal this time if I can, although I tend to run very low flow through my sump which often makes tuning easier for me.

I saw someone else's build recently that used an internal low profile coast to coast box and an external box with the bulkheads that I did rather like. I think if I do end up drilling it myself that is the direction I want to go in. If I can get the granite drilled so the plumbing goes straight down I may be able to turn it into a feature.

I'm also extending the build out to include a refugium next to the main tank, so the sketchup models are getting entertainingly complex.

Got a bit excited, and added a second tank into the mix, as well as adding some doors on removable verticals.
