Hey guys, I just built a new steel stand for my 150 cube. The top is covered with a piece of treated plywood. Do I need to put some foam in between the top of the stand and the tank? If so, which kind? Thanks.
I think it depends on whether your tank is glass or acrylic (foam for acrylic), and if it is glass, whether it has a plastic rim that it sits on (no foam) or whether the bottom glass sits directly on the stand (yes to foam). I've never had a tank that needed foam so someone else will have to answer on what type to use.
Ive never needed foam, but if to use, I beleive its the 1" pink stuff. Called rigid R-150 or R-250 if getting it in the 2" sheets. A main use is for insulating foundation walls for the 2" and alot of siding over old houses use the 1/4" stuff. Can get at Menards/Home Depot/etc. in 4'x8'x desired thickness" sheets.
