I would eventually like to make a large tank that I can essentially make a room inside of it. I'm thinking of a 12' x 12' outer edge with about 18-24 inch tank thickness yielding a "room" in the middle I can relax in and watch my ocean on all sides of me. Ever seen anything like that?

I'm not aware of any 360 tanks. However there are some 90 degree corner tanks like that on here that you could use as inspiration. Seems to me, outlining a whole room is certainly doable. Difficult but doable. It'd have to be built on site and would take some serious planning to ensure proper flow and filtration. Unless you go acrylic, you're biggest challenge may be finding 12' length's of glass. However, I see no reason it couldn't be done.
