Standard tubing to Eheim

How are you guys connecting standard 3/4-1" tubing to this pump? I'm gonna run it external for a sump. Also it comes with one small and one larger inlet. Do I want to run the larger on the inlet and smaller on the out. or is it the other way around. Its the 1260

I bought my 1260 used, so i hope this helps.

In the Outlet I have 4" piece of pipe, has 3/4" thread on either end attached to this i have a barb fitting then flexible hose, then a 3/4 to inch adapter in the inlet then 1" pipe running to the bulkhead in my sump. well it will be like that after I make another trip to Lowes.
