Hi,

I was thinking of getting a cube with dimensions of 24x24x20H. I dont like the limitations of a stand that exactly fits the tank, because the sump would have to be custom. Instead, I was thinking of getting a stand that was 32 by 24 inches. The extra length would let me use a 20 long and get a larger skimmer than the previous sump.

Would a stand that is longer, but the same depth of the DT be a structural risk? Im wondering if not having the edges of the tank lined up with the edges of the stand would pose a threat to the stand collapsing

I would built the stand as long as you want, but put vertical supports directly under the corners of the tank. That should give the stand an opening big enough to get your sump in.
