Star Board Thickness

Hello, setting up a 2'x2'x2' cube tank,,bare bottom...What thickness of starboard should I use...Is using 3/4 actually better or will 1/4"or 1/2" be just as good..Is the thinner material prone to warpage? Also what color would be best? Thanks

White would hide scuffs and such, reflect light like no tomorrow (may be a good thing...) but will show any dirt, coralline, etc like it was in neon. Black is basically the reverse. Hide dirt, not reflect much light but scuffs and such will stand out. At least thats how it works on cars =D.

Both will eventually grow coralline and probably won't matter what color you wanted then, its whatever color grows that you get.

With my tank I went with the thinnest starboard possible, 1/4". I did not go bare bottom, but with a VERY thin sand layer and wanted something to protect the bottom pane. Some people glue the edges of their starboard, I did not. So far I have had no warp-age although I have only had it in there for about 5 months.

As far as Black and White, I went with Black and have no regrets. If I went bare bottom I would definitely go Black. I think the advantage to White is if you have a thin sand bed like mine and there are some bare spots, they blend in better. But my tank has a black back with black silicone, black overflow, etc. I just wanted to keep everything black and I like the look.
