A form of HDPE used to build stuff for boats. Basically very expensive cutting board material with some UV blockers. Does not warp, rot corrode etc. For the Marine Industry so very expensive, kinda like Reef stuff.
Well, I saw a post where a guy cut a piece to put in the bottom of his new tank. He cut it to exactly cover the entire bottom. Just wondered what was up with that.
Does it works similar to DSB? Accomodate all kind of micro-life? I'm interested in learning more about this particular board and how it benefits the system other than decorative cover.
Nope its just for looks and to protect the bottom of the tank. Incase you drop a rock you dont crack the bottom of the tank. Other then that doesnt do anything for the system.
Starboard is used by those who wish to keep a BB tank. It helps protect the glass from breaking if rocks falls, keeps the bottom of the tank from being see thru, and is known to allow corals and coraline algae to grow on it.
bottom line is- if u dont want sand and want to protect the glass, this is what you get- doesnt add an biological benefit to your system
