starburst polyp (GSP?) placement

Well, im trying to find a new spot for my starburst polyp (maybe same as GSP, Briareum sp.) currently they are on the bottom of my tank because of all the stories of them growing like weeds and becoming a pain after a while. Well, they seem to be dull in color (always have been even when they were higher up in the tank at first) and are very short. So i want to move them up so they will get more light, but also dont want them taking over any rocks.

So, is there any trick to preventing them from spreading to other rocks, i read in one place that they will only grow up towards the light, any truth to that? or anything else?

Where's the picture of the guy's entire tank covered in GSP. I assure... they will grow EVERYWHERE.

I have a large colony at the very top of my 90g. Since we moved the tank last year, growth has been mainly upwards and somewhat sideways, but it hasn't moved down - I do think there's some truth to the idea that they prefer to grow towards light (up), but Frank's right - given time, GSP will cover everything if it's not pruned or fragged.

Our GSP colony houses a little hitchhiking gardener, a eunicid worm (coral-munching beastie). I've been trying to catch him for some time, but only half-heartedly; he keeps the colony trimmed, and seems content to stay near his hole, living on a diet of GSP. Should he progress on to other corals, I'll have to resume my trapping efforts, but for now he's actually performing a valuable service so I'll let him be
