Starfish baby?

Hello, I started my first marine tank about two months ago.
So far I haven't added any fish, just CUC including a sand sifter.
Today I noticed a small star on a piece of base rock, can anyone identify it?
I'm wondering if my sand sifter had a baby or this may be another species that hitched a ride on my live rock.

It looks like an Asterina starfish. If you used any live rock it probably hitchhiked it's way in on that. Some people consider them to be harmless, but there have been numerous reports of these things munching on various corals.

yes asterina. but what alarms me is you have a sand sifting star fish in a 2 months old tank.. they need established systems preferably around a year old to have enough food in the sand for them to survive. the sand sifting stars starve to death in new tanks like yours. they dont starve overnight maybe not even after a few weeks they can last a good bit without food but they will eventually starve. i suggest rehoming for now.
