Starfish Question

Can anyone tell me what kind of starfish this is and if I can put it in my tank?

It looks very similar to that. But I know that this person has a Gulf of Mexico tank so I would assume that it wasn't from Fiji. Do we have starfish in Florida?

If it is from the Gulf/Atlantic my reference book suggests it could be a Conical Spined Sea Star (Echinaster sentus). See Reef Creature Identification pg 365.

You may be right on the dot with that one. I looked up some pictures and definitely looks like that. I'll have to check out the reference you posted when I get home.
