My wife and I purchased an Indian starfish. We got him already attatched to a little piece of rock. Since he was areally attached to the rock they just put him and the rock in a bag for us. We got him home and preped him for our tank. Once he was in our tank we noticed that he has not moved much at all. I know starfish dont move fast or often but he did NOTHING. Then slowly the tips of his legs started to look as if they were almost
"malting". We called the store and asked if that was normal and they said yes. I have spoken with friends that have been taking care of tanks for years and he said that starfish don't malt. He told me to flip him on his back and leave him for about 5 min and see if he turns himself over. well 15 min later still on his back. Pretty sure he might be dead but not 100% sure.... just wondering if anyone else has any tips. We have been checking our water weekly and also taking it to be tested weekly and our water is fine. So I am not sure what happened or happening. Our store said if he still hasn't moved or done much to take him back in monday. We are passed the 24 hour guarantee and they have not said if they would refund us or not. But if he is still like this I guess we will bag him up and bring him back... if anyone has any tips or thaughts please let me know.

Definetely a goner:( if not yet, will be soon. If they can't flip back over, its an indicator used to determine if the star is strong/healthy. Most sea stars die from malnutrition, however brittle sea stars seem to do much better IMO. Any copper/meds in your tank recently? They aren't supposed to be exposed to air although IMO it hasn't bothered mine in the past. Good Luck

I had a couple of sifters a couple of years ago "melt" I was told it was a virus- they died. The current onea are fine.
