How many starfish do you guys keep in your tanks and what size is your tank?
I ask because i like the serpents, baskets and heard good things about them -

i have a couple in my 90 but how many would too many... think im also going to trade my sand sifting sf and maybe get two blue Linkias... thoughts guys?

From everything I have read 2 linkias in a 90g won't work...I think even 1 in a 90g would be pushing it as they typically will starve out, at least this is what I gather from reading on them. They need a fairly large tank to keep them fed long term.

I don't really have any knowledge on basket stars but I think they are on the more difficult side as far as taking care of. Serpents are pretty easy since they will eat just about anything, I have 1 in my 75g but think I could get away with another. JMO

Yup, neither of those is very likely to have a long and healthy life in your tank. There's a lot of info on this forum about Linckia laevigata (all of it telling you not to put them in a tank less than 20,000 gallons, or something like that), and a little info about the basket stars. The general gist is that they are fragile and also hard to keep alive. If you decide to try it, read up on them as much as you can, it will take a lot of effort to have a chance at keeping one successfully.

Cheers,

Don

They do fine for 6 months to a year, depending on how long they've been in captivity before you buy them, and how long it takes for them to starve.
