Had one for a long time, very good choice. You will absolutely love him!

Tangers, I definitely will. I absolutely love him so far. I'm slowly attempting to have him perch on my hand.

how does its diet and temperament compare to the black sailfin blenny?

SuperNerd, unfortunately I can't give a comparison because I have never took in a Black Sailfin Blenny. Maybe someone else can chime in? My Starry Blenny (Salarias Ramosus) is extremely gentle and so far just stays to himself.

Mr. Kook, that would definitely be a great surprise. I have been searching for this little guy for over 8 months and counting. Then I finally saw him and scooped him up.

I had a Starry Blenny for a long time, he actually got somewhat aggressive after awhile and actually darted out and bit me once while I was moving coral! He use to fight with his own reflection and would change colors to like a dullish light brown/yellowish color

I had an open top and he use to sleep on the top of one of my powerheads about 2" from the surface, he never jumped. After about a year I was trying to remove him to help lighten my bio load, he pooped all the time. But now that I look back, he was quite a character...

I have one of those guys. Great little fish. Mine was very shy when I first put him in the tank but is out and about all the time. Behavior wise, they are more like the lawnmower blennies. They are generally peaceful but can get a bit pugnacious at times.

Mine is currently displaying somewhat of a shy personality. Hopefully in the passing weeks he will be more exploritory within the Aquarium.

He should, it takes a little time sometimes, especially with blennies.

Yeah mine was very timid for the first couple of weeks. Now he is all over the place. Very good algae grazer who also eats anything I throw into the tank. It is an amazing fish overall.

Heres mine.

AquaReeferMan, do you provide any supplimental food to your Starry Blenny (Salarias Ramosus)? If so what type of food do you use? Thank you for the information.

Mine also loves gobbling mouthfuls of sand then pooping out the grains while swimming. It's like his ballast.

Yeah mine does that too. I was wondering how sand was ending up on my corals and rock work until one day I seen it leaving him.

I have one too, he's got tons of personality!

Anyone have any suggestions to how to get them to eat out of your hand or perch in there?

I've had mine about 3 weeks now and is loosing his shyness he comes up when i feed flake and bites on my finger i'd love for him to eat out of my hand or perch there also.

I've always wanted one, but after a disastrous episode with a SPS munching lined blenny, I'm scared of trying another "rasping" type blenny. Has anyone had problems with their starry blenny eating things it shouldn't, even in a tank with no algae?
