Start qt fish b4 tank is set up?

Hi so I have my 300dd totally paid off and it will be delivered and installed in 3 weeks then cycle for a month or so...

Is it too early to buy my first fish and qt them for the next 8 weeks?

I dont see why not so long as the time frame matches up. I assume you already have your QT set up and cycled though.

You'll need to cycle the qt first. Doesn't hurt to try though. Pure 3% ammonia solution spiked to 2ppm and maybe some bottled bacteria. I used colony ATO and it took 3 weeks to fully cycle.

I don't see a problem. The longer observation of the fish, the higher the odds will be for your DT being parasite/disease free.

When you qt do you treat them just to be safe even if the fish looks good?

I treat with a Formalin bath (50 mins) upon arrival, then into the QT for a week. After that week they go into TTM with 2 rounds of Prazi-Pro during the 2nd and 4th transfers, then back into the QT. Once there, a round of CP is added.
