Iam going to get into sps and wanted to know what some easy starter corals would be. My tank specs:

65 gal 36lx24hx18w
250 watt 14k MH
2x96 pc actinic

Do yourself a favor, get frags from a local reefer, as opposed to larger colonies from the ocean, you will have much better luck

I partially agree with Simon.007, make sure your water params are good!! You will also need to have, in place, a calicium/alkalinity sysytem such as a calcium reactor, or at the very least, a two part additive such as B-Ionic.

I've managed to tank my montipora capricornis through several up-and-down cycles of nitrates (from 10 up to 30+ to 0 to 30+ to 0) in my zoanthid and LPS tank and it is alive and growing once again. So I'd vote for that one. :)

All my parameters are fine I have been keeping LPS, anenomes, mushrooms, cup corals, open brains, brown polyps, etc, for many years with great success some of them help contribute to the hobbie through fragging. But I have been paying closer attention to water parameters. And I do plan on getting frags locally. Anyone in the area got frags?

Besides you parameters you may want to increase flow. I agree montipora, pocillapora and green slimmer would be good starters.
Try to get local frags as others said especially if you can get frags that have been in tanks for years. I have a red table thats been tanked for 12 years that I frag often and most keep it healthy under different conditions.
