Just got a new 90g tank from gwa. I am looking for a couple of items to get started and I thought I would try to find them used before I went out and bought new. I need a protien skimmer, an external pump and a tank that I can use for a sump. Any help in finding any of these items would be greatly appreciated.

I will keep my eye out and let you know. Nothing comes to mind this second. Have any questions let me know? Check my gallery for ideas.

What would u want for the 29 Jack? If it is the standard dimensions I think it would fit in my stand.

Thanks rams, I do appreciate it and I am sure that I will have plenty of questions in the very near future.

I would go with an internal pump vs. external.
You can clean out the internal pumps very easily, externally you have to disconnect too many pipes which could crack your sump.
Plus if your pump chamber is large enough, you get no cavitation making your pump really pull the amount of water vs. air it was intended to.

if you are considering the 29 the height of the tank could be an issue when it comes to maintaining your sump. You might be able to find a nice custom made sump from ART with dimensions to fit better. Consider the 20 long to get you going in the mean time.

OK. I figured that an external would be easier to deal with, but I believe you, and will look around for an internal. I did find a skimmer; a Euro-Reef es5-3 for $200 shipped. He said it is rated for a 90 gallon tank, but he had it on his 110 and it worked great. Does this sound like a decent deal. Told you I would have plenty of questions.

I used to hit a euroreef es5-2 and I thought it was pretty sweet, I would expect the 5-3 to be just as good only with higher capacity

well, that price sounds ok since its shipped, however there is no way to properly give you an opinion not knowing how long its been used

if its been used for 2.5 years then I would say that's probably a poor price, but if its been used for 6 months...different story

just got a line on same skimmer, Euro-Reef ES5-3 with gatevalve attachment and Sedra 3500 needlewheel pump, less than a year old for $150 plus shipping. This sound better?

I have a turbofloater multi that I would let go for $175, still new in box, just used a few pieces of it for about a week

I have this skimmer on my 180, so it would do wonderful on a 90

Thanks stlouisguy, but I all ready comitted to the euro-reef. If it falls through I will let you know. Still looking for a pump everybody.

es5-2 or the es5-3 doesnt ready matter on your tank

but in experence the es5-2 does a better job at skimming and the gate valve is a plus on the skimmer (fine tune it)

the sedra 3500 loses some head when it is filling the extra inch of the chamber of the skimmer
