starting a new tank

How long should I leave the uncooked shrimp I'm my new cycling tank and would you add any kind of bacteria additive ....I used dry rock and live sand .. Thanks

I left min in for a week, just be ready for it to smell really bad when you take it out, so be ready to take it outside to the trash.

Could have always used pure ammonia, just bring the ammonia up to 4ppm and start dosing bacteria.

I actually just left mine in the tank. Once my tank was done cycling I added detritus-eating snails and they took care of the rotted shrimp.

Yeah I pulled the shrimp out drained the tank used all new saltwater and bought a reef mature kit from red sea .....I used the same kit on my 90 gallon and that turned out OK no biggie almost done with the kit
