Starting a New tank

Hi Everyone,
I'm trying to put together a 46 gal oceanic reef tank. I havent purchased the tank, waiting on everyones feed back. I would like to know what sump would fit in the stand and have room for a Skimmer and a refugium. I basically have been trying to find good products but am going in circles. What brands and what equipment would I need. I'm still very new to this and very confused on what to purchase. Thanks

I don't think 46 is a nano, try this thread in the New to the Hobby forum. . . Thats where you will get more info for sump refugium ect. =) good luck!

I beg to differ ... anything under 50 gallons is a nano. Pretty much anything you can't keep a Tang in.

The Corallife Super Skimmer has been getting great results!

lol, tang police..ok then i stand corrected....but for starting a new tank thought they could get more help for this somewhere else....

lol, i dont mind him here....BUT to add what you said, I just got a coralife super skimmer 65 for my 55 and it kicks my red prizim...something like that (i didnt buy it, tank was my friends) arseee....I'm running them both now and the CSS 65 pulls out wayyy more crap in a day than the other one has in two weeks, so I would reccommendi t, but I'm new to skimmers still....

Most of the times the stands dont have enough room.
And please listen to the following, GET AS LARGE SUMP AS YOU CAN. people are always saying, well I just want 10gal. It is just to small and water levels will change and it is a big annoyance. Make your own stand and get a nice sized sump, I would reccomend a 29gal, then you can have a great big skimmer, and have a large fuge area. I hate my 15gal sump, it is so annoying, I am upgrading and doing an in wall with my 29 as sump.
Also I have the ccs 125 and really like it, with such a small sump I have bubble problems, but once I upgrade that wont be a problem, good luck and never keep track of how much you have spent.

Laura, I bet that skimmate is pretty nasty! My CPR Bak-Pak pulls out some nasty sh!t after I tuned the Maxi-Jet 1200, hehehe sounds like a futuristic feminine hygiene product :hmm3:!

Tim anyway for a sump you can use almost anything ... 10-30 gal. tank, rubbermaid, Do It Yourselfor a professionaly made sump ... it really depends on your willingness to spend cash money!

Yea, were talking a solid layer of crap all in the inside of the tube thing every 3 days or so, plus the thick green stuff in the actual collection cup, I hate washing it, though I get this gratifying feeling knowning its not in my tank anymore.... ^_^
