Starting an Overflow

Just bought an overflow. Wanted to test it out, how do you get these things going?

What kind is it? One with a U-tube?

Yeah, a dual tube.

Wouldn't you just submerge it upside down, then put it upright in the water and lift it out?

Get yourself a really long piece of airline tubing (unless you just like the taste of synthetic seawater). Fill both sides of the overflow with water. Stick one end of the tubing at the very top of the U. Set it in place. Then suck the air bubble out. Once enough air is out it should start to flow by itself.

I was talking about the unit. Not just the tubes (but, it would make for a fun time!)
