Hello MARS and of course Hello to Brian and Duc,
Sorry it's been so long since i've posted anything, this new job is keeping me busy haha.
Well, since my last job at DHS (around January), all of my fish Died!. Well actually I have 2 Gobie's left.
So from what i've been reading, I think I should just remove all of my Curshed Coral bed, and replace it with Aragonite Sand. The problem is, Where do I find some? I am reading that Play Sand, specifically "YardRight", "SouthDown" and "Old Castle" are very good alternatives to "Live Sand", but very hard to find, especially here on the west coast. So the plan is to purchase some Dry Aragonite sand, along with a bit of live sand to seed the dead sand. Also, any opinions about CaribSea Aragamax sand?
If you guys have any ideas where I can get some aragonite sand, at a decent price, that would be great! I went to O st Aquarium, and they are selling some for .99 cents/lb, it is in some sort of bin. I also do remember Brian saying that he could sell me some, so if you still have some, please let me know =)
I have a 110 gal tank, and would like between 4-6 inches of sand. I would prefer this rather than having a remote Deep Sand Bed. I am still planning on keeping my 2 Fluval 405 Canister filters, I am going to purchase the Skimmer attachment for one of them ($15), and I heard that it's good for the price. I really don't have time or money to build a skimmer from scratch or purchase one.
I am also considering buying a RO/DI Filter. I used tap water before and added some additives, which I think was a big mistake, I should have started off with RO/DI water, but now I've learned. Basically, I think I am going to start from scratch. I am still considering the IceCap Retrofit Fit kit that Brian Showed me. But I am now debating whether to stick with Metal Halide, or try T-5, due to energy output. My goal is to have a reef tank going.
Any idea's, opinions, suggestions is much appreciated!
Thanks!
