Starting up a 35g reef and super excited!!

I had a 55g about 10 years ago. I bit off a bit more than i could chew so it was kind of a disgrace ( I traveled a lot, wasn't financially stable, and didn't really have any forums to absorb knowledge). Now that i am much more stable and have finances in order I am excited to dive in! I purchased this set up used and wanted to run it by everyone. and see what you guys thought.

35g 18" x 19" x 24" by reef savvy w ghost overflow to a 20g sump
Aqua Illumination nano LEDS w/ controller
Phosban reactor w/pump and media
seaside aquatics nano skimmer
auto top off system

My main questions have to do with lighting. Will the LED nano setup be enough to penetrate a 24" deep tank? I plan on mostly zoas/shrooms/softies but would like to know the possibilities going forward. The other question has to do with the sump. I hear mixed opinions on whether or not i should set up some sort of fuge in an area in the sump, whether i should just throw some extra LR in there, or just leave it be. I have always enjoyed watching all the little critters in established refugiums, so i would prefer one. I just wonder if I will have room and the best ways to set it up (obviously pictures will help when I get everything set up this Monday/Tuesday). Lastly the livestock I am interested in. Pair of clowns, 6 line wrasse, paired candy cane pistol/goby (Randalls, yasha, etc), and dragonets (Mandarin, moyer's, etc). This will clearly be down the road but preparing and setting myself up for success is the game plan this time around. Cheers all and I look forward to hearing from you!!!

Any reason in particular that you're going with the Nanos as opposed to the newer Primes with the WiFi controller built in?

I'm sure that light would be fine for most things. SPS would probably need to be near the top of the aquarium of course. Also keep in mind if you have a glass top as well, that will lower the light penetration. You could run open top or use the netting kit from BRS.

i would go with a 120 or 165 watts (Chinese leds) on eBay or amazon

I'll have to check that out. I'm going wait a bit for new lights as I haven't even put water in yet so it will be sometime before i'll need it.

I purchased the setup used and those are the lights that he had already with the controller.

It is all open up top so i wont have anything absorbing light before it gets to the water.

Awesome - and I agree on the lights. I got the marsaqua leds and they really helped my corals.

I have a Reefbreeder Value fixture on my 25g (18x18x18) there is plenty of power on this fixture, I have it set at 25% white channel and 50% on actinic channel, it's about 8-10 inches off of the water surface.

IF you're going to buy new LEDs and IF you're going to go with Chinese ones, look into Ocean Revive. They're made better and I believe the LEDs are of better quality than the "chinese black box" ones.

Having said this, I ran the Chinese ones (i.e. Mars Aqua, etc) for over a year successfully, but the Ocean Revives are way nicer and they seem a whole lot brighter than the other ones.

You could always buy the cheaper Chinese ones and solder in better LEDs too.

Thanks. I have seen a couple that seem to be of decent quality

Anyone have opinions on these??
