Static shock from RO/DI water?!

Kinda scared me when it happened. I made my first "real" batch of water with my 4 stage ro/di system over the weekend, it was probably only 5-6 gallons, but more than i've done since getting it.. (the is only the 2nd time its been used).

I wanted to see how cold/warm teh water was so I went to put my finger in the plastic tub and ZAP! it popped real loud and actually made my finger a little tingly for a couple minutes... i tried it 2-3 more times and it gradually went away to the point it doesnt do it anymore....im just afraid when i make a large batch (30 gallons or more) of the force from it :uhoh3:

has this happened to anyone else? I have no powerhead/heater in the bucket, and its a brand new filter setup... It was a plastic storage tub to just hold some rock im curing. DIdnt add salt yet to it it was just fresh water... WE HAVE been running a dehumidifier in the room so its been super dry, and the plastic tub sits on a concrete floor.

I used an outdoor adjustable metal( zinc?) garden hose T off the washing machine cold water pipe and drain the ro/di waste water into the waste water pipe also for the washing machine.

Is your Telephone company or security company using your water pipes as a secondary grounding means?

i thought about this the other day (im really not sure if they are or not...the house was built in the 60's), but wouldn't i get a static zap any time i ran water such as getting in the shower or washing my hands?
