I am purchasing a tank that has a steel stand and no canopy. I wanted to to just connect wood panels on the side and front and make a canopy. Ive spoken to 2 carpenters that have told me that it wouldnt work that the velcrow will come off and the panels will fall down.

Anyone have any exp with this? know any carpenters that do it?

want it to be removable later :)
Ray I do know of a tank just like that and yes the Velcro does give away after a while.. Perhaps u can drill 3 sides and Velcro one only and then service the Velcro every so often?

You could get some latches for the front that you turn and they release. There are various types, some more decorative than others. If you're not happy with the selection as Lowes/Depot, try a woodworking shop likes Constantine's on East Oakland Park Blvd. They've got all kinds of latches, pulls, hinges...

I have a steel frame as well. I have all the supplies for the cabinetry (just haven't done it yet). I'm going with rare earth magnets. I'll embed them in the panels and then formica over them. Should stick right to the frame yet be removeable.
