how much is admission anyways?

Regular Prices:
Adults - $7.00
Youth 12-17 - $4.50
Students w/ID - $4.50
Seniors 65+ - $4.50
Children 4-11 - $2.00
Children 3 and under - Free

Cheaper and more educational than a movie at the Metreon. Besides, they don't have penguins or sea bass feedings at the Metreon.

here ya go Qwiv

VISIONARY $400

Admission for 2 adults & their children under 18 - two cards
# All Charter Member Benefits at 875 Howard Street, throughout construction of the new Academy and through opening year (expected date: late 2008) of the new Academy in Golden Gate Park PLUS:
# Periodic updates about the progress of the new Academy re-building in Golden Gate Park
# "Hard Hat" tours of the new Academy in Golden Gate Park
# Special opening reception for the new Academy in Golden Gate Park
Just donate $400 and you're set! :)

For others you can get a family membership for $60, which is 2 adults and kids under 18, which if you want to go at your convience and do so a lot, could be worth the money.

I remember there were alligators at the academy of sciences? this was like 18 years ago though maybe...

I don't remember alligators but I remember they had all these weird looking reptiles like two headed snakes and lizards and what not. That was also probably 20 years ago on a school field trips. :)

yeah see! i wasn't imagining things.

There was like a circular pool or something, and you could see it from a staircase / platform above, or walk down to it... that's all I can remember =/ I think I was about 8 years old.

Yup had gators, and also HUGE turtles in with them too. Same area as the two headed snake, just had to turn around to see the gators they were in a sunken pit area.

They had the big circular pool at the top, was featured in one of the old James Bond flicks as a meeting place :) They even had a shark in their at one time, but even that constant swimming it managed to bump the hell out of it's nose and ended up dying.

The old Steinhart was one of the coolest places in the world IMHO. I remember going there in the 60s as a little kid.

I absolutely loved the Seahorse railing around the circular alligator pool! I hope they reinstall that railing on the new facility.

Sounds like the new one is going to be SOTA. Does anyone know if the new giant reef tank is going to be tropical (afterall there are temperate/cold reefs too)?
