Sting rays

I'm thinking about doing a fowlr with a blue-spot. Is a 125 big enough? Would a ray get along with a lionfish? Could I get away with a deep sand bed and put my rock in my sump?

125 not big enough.. and the blue spot will not live. they do horriable in captivity

125G is WAY too narrow. You ideally need a tank with something like a 4'x4' footprint. If you can't go custom you would at the very least need to find a tank 2' wide. But 2' in my opinion is cruel for an adult ray.

As said above, Blue Spots rarely live more than a few months to a year in captivity.

What about freshwater rays? They have much, much better success in aquariums and you can get some that stay relatively small. You would still need at least a 180G for most of them though because the 2' width is still necessary.

Blue spots are not easy to keep, but I succesfully kept two in a 300 gallon (96 x 30 x 24) for several months and then a 300 gallon rubbermaid for several more months. I only lost them due to a power failure (circuit breaker tripped and shut down the filter). The 125 is too small, but with a bigger system I think they are worth trying.

i wouldnt...they are finicky eaters VERY hard to get to eat.
