my lfs got a small stingray in. its latin name on the list is the same as the blue spotted stingray.

it looks simmilar with no blue spotts, any idea what kind it is?
its small about 4" around.

i was wonderign if i coudl add himt o my reef tank that is mainly sps? why arent they reef safe?

any advice or input?

they need a very large footprint with lots of open sand bed. that is all i know about them. i would say that you need at least a 220gallon with lots of area for it on the bottom.

They'll eat any sort of crab, shrimp, or snail most likely, that is if you can get them to eat... They're one of those things that the LFS shouldn't even bring in IMO since very few people have a tank that is a good fit for one, and of the ones that do they're often someone that just pays someone sle to come in and take care of their tank once a week. I wouldn't put one in your average 150 gallon tank even without rockwork, with rockwork it's going to get cramped if it lives long enough to grow.
