IMO the tank is too small for a sohal tang, plus it MIGHT end up killing everything...but..wrasses IMO would be nice. id personally go with a harlequin tusk, or another larger species...other than that, a Lieutenant Tang(A. Tennenti) has always been one of my favorites...most other tangs should work okay in a tank that size as long as you dont overstock, and theyll help with algae control as well.. just my 2 cents...

You don't think 300 gallons is big enough for a Sohal?

yea IMO it is small. a 300 is 6ft long, 8ft maybe, but a full grown sohal can reach around 2ft. they only reach about 1.5ft in captivity, but still, a 6-8ft tank is only about 4-6 times the length of its body, and sohals, like every other tang are very active swimmers. IMO thats just not enough room. On top of that, sohals are known as the most aggressive tang you can get. theyve been known to kill everything in a tank. ill assume if bought small, they will be fine for a year or two while it is maturing. this is going to lead the owner to believe they arent aggressive, but thats because most of the aggression only shows up when a fish reaches maturity. then the chances of seeing aggression increases dramatically. it can all of a sudden snap, out of nowhere, for no apparent reason...Im not necessarily conservative when it comes to stocking a tank, and ive mad a few mistakes, and ive learned the hard way..through stress, through disease, and through frustration. IMO a sohal in a 300 just isnt worth the risk considering the possible consequences. there are plenty of other tangs that fit in a 300g with no issues at all, and if you want a real nice splash of color with alot less agression, then look into angelfish. i feel there is no fish comparable to a full grown queen, or emperor angelfish when it comes to color. once again, just my 2 cents. :)

An Australian harlequin Tusk. Magnificent fish that should be fine with what you have now. There are just coming into season; LA has a great price this week.

id say a blue hippo tang will be fine. definitely try to quarantine though, as they are very susceptible to ich. i didnt quarantine mine, and unfortunately, it got ich...and died... that was back when i started, and since then ive definitely learned my lesson..

Tangs or clownfish. IMO & IME; a QT is a must for every successful hobbyist. Every book ever written says the same thing. Its a shame that so many of us (me included) learn the hard way. A QT catches a lot more diseases and parasites than just ich on tangs.

a 10g would be okay depending on the size of the fish.. a baby blue hippo tang should be okay, but if its larger, id go bigger..
