Stock My 55 Gallon Reef

Mr. Fish

I am having hard time working on the fish list for my 55 gallon tank and thought maybe you guys could help. I really want to have coral, mainly LPS and softies, but also some SPS. I cannot have any fish that eat or even nip at coral because coral is the focus of this tank. Last week I had to rescue two true percs from my friends shattered tank even though my tanks still cycling. Our lfs here doesn't take fish back, so we had no other choice. They are doing fine a week later btw. Other than the clowns the only fish that I know for sure I'll have in the tank is a yellow tang (I know an adult yellow tang is much too large for a 55 gallon, but I have a 180 gallon tank to move it to once it outgrows the 55).

What I plan on having is:
Lots of LPS and Softies, some SPS
Derasa Clam
Cleaner Shrimp
Snails (maybe hermits too)
2 true perc clowns
1 yellow tang

You guys add the rest.

I am trying to come up with a stocking list for my new 55 as well and also was having a tough time. I think it would be neat to have a yellowhead jawfish and maybe a shrimp/goby pair on the opposite end. Just two possible things you could add to the list since you have room to add more than that.

Edit: also a green mandarin would be neat

For me in my 55 gal so far I have a trio of blue green cromis, a royal gramma basslet, coral beauty angel, a pink firefish, peppermint shrimp and a blood red shrimp. My last additions are going to be a pair of clowns

The hermits are something you might stay away from I had bad luck out of some last time they tend to eat snails sometimes even the small ones

I was thinking about getting a royal gramma, but I heard they are pretty aggressive is that true?

Anyone else have any stocking ideas?
