Stocking 28g Nanocube

I've always had larger tanks so this one is giving me a little trouble figuring out what fish to buy.

Realistically I can only stock this tank with 3-4 fish max and I'm not looking for anything that will out grow this tank.

Not looking at clowns, cardinals, firefish, etc... since I already have them in my other tanks.

I would really like swimmers, so I think gobys are out too.

So what else is out there?

I like the Possum wrasse, maybe a dottyback watch them with shrimps though

I like!

Since I have two cleaner shrimp in my other tank, I'm thinking of adding one of these guys!

Yeah they are neat little fish. I had. Bicolor dotty back in a 55 added a cleaner shrimp the first thing the bicolor did was try to eat the shrimp so we had to get rid of the bicolor.

Here was my 28g cube stocklist:

Yellow Banded Possum Wrasse
Helfrichi Firefish
Yellow Assessor
Tailspot Blenny

I have since upgraded to a 50, so they were all moved over to that one.

I know of a few people w/ Biocubes that have a group of assessors in there. If you know a fish store that deals with ORA you might be able to get a good deal. I've heard when kept in singles they are hardly ever out in the open.

I pay $33/ea but that is basically whole sale pricing. On divers den they are $70-$90/ea from what I remember. The blue ones being slightly more expensive.

I have my 10 year old pair of Clowns and my small male Mandarin in my 28 Gallon Biocube right now.

I've had issues myself finding fish that are more mobile, yet will not outgrow the tank. I prefer to avoid aggressive fish as well, they just don't mix with the style of tank I like to keep.

I was personally going with the following as a fish list for my tank:

-Clown Pair
-Male Mandarin
-Yasha or Dracula Goby + Randali Pistol Shrimp
-Then a pair of Helfrichi Fire Fish or 3 Yellow Assessors.

Let us know how the Assessors go if you choose to pick them up.

I have a bonded pair of Tanaka's Wrasses. They are more colorful than a regular possum wrasse. Would be perfect for your cube. I can sell them to you if interested. PM me and I will send you a video.

Try a Hector's goby for algae nibbling. Small, adorable, and hover-y instead of bottom-hugging.
I've had luck with yellowtail blue damsels... They can be a bit nippy with tiny things, but really no more so than clownfish. They're active, colorful, have interesting personalities, and will eat just about anything you offer. Just make sure it's a yellowtail- bright blue body, yellow tail, bit of yellow at tail base but no yellow belly. Yellow belly = yellow belly devil. Bad.
