Hey everyone!!! kinda new to non-nanos so I could you some advise

So This summer before I left for school I switched from a 20 long to a 55. Currently it has 2 false percs and a purple firefish. When I'm at school my mom feeds the fish and I do a water change every time I'm home (varries 2 to 8 weeks). So the other day my mom said "your tank looks kinda bare lets get some fish and corals for it". So for chrismas I'm getting some new fish but i don't know what to get. I had my 20 long now for a year and the 55 has been up for about 6 months.

Current tank
40lb live rock (more curing)
2 powerheads

So the plan.....
(open to sugestions)

Add a Aqua C remora skimmer (HOB)

add either a Kole tang or yellow...or both....ok probably just one
or neither could really use some advise on it. I would like a tang but like 95% sure it would be a bad choice for the tank i have

add another purple fire fish

besides that something with nice color.....looking for some sudgetions

later
-mandarin goby
--need about 25lb more LR and another year to let it ferment..lol

I think all of your choices are not going to work.

A 55 is to small for any tang.

Trying to add another fire fish will be iffy. The established one will probably kill it.

Mandarin goby's need a large tank since getting them to eat prepared foods is iffy at best, and they will starve to death in your tank unless you plan to add pods every couple of weeks to feed them.

I think a pygmy angel would do well in your set up. Possibly a flame, elbi, lemonpeel or African flame back.

Flasher wrasses would also work.

Yes, make sure you have a good copepod population going first, for sure. A refugium would be helpful, as well, to maintain the copepod population

First, I love smaller fish. I did not appreciate the beauty of small fish when I started this hobby, and I like them better every year.

Here are a few suggestions.

flame hawk: awesome color and personality

ORA tank raised fridmani pseudochromis: stunning color, cool shape, mine has been very peaceful.

Pair of gold or blue neon striped gobies.

yellow assessor.

I am not sure if a flame hawk or pseudochromis will harass your firefish. I have never owned a firefish, so I can't say for sure. Perhaps someone else can chime in. If you want shrimp, and want to see them in the tank, don't buy the flame hawk. The shrimp will hide If the FH doesn't eat them first.

I've herd bad things about angel though and I would like to keep my zoas so i'm thinking no to the Angel. I'm still looking right now at what I want to do. I'm still on the border of what to do. I was thinking of adding some gobys or something. Right now though I'm probably going to do a lot more reserch before I make too many choices.

a clown goby would work but the flame hawk will eat shrimp so you wont want shrimp if u get that though. im thinking a yellow tang would work though. there pretty durable so if u could get one make sure its about 3in and once it get like 6in or 7in then ul have to take it out but til then it should actually be fine.

Sounds like what I would recommend. :fish1:
