Stocking an established tank

Hi all. Several months ago, I had to move my tank. I took that opportunity to remove a bunch of live rock and catch/sell some fish that had grown too big or mean for my 75. I currently have only a Chromis, some red-legged hermits, and a few snails in the tank along with the SPS corals and a couple of leathers. The tank is nutrient poor, moderately high current, bare bottom, with LED lighting.

I don't want to repeat a my stocking mistake by putting Tangs that get too big, or Pygmy Angels and other fish that get too aggressive in the tank. I'm thinking small schooling fish like Dart Fish and Anthias and other compatible fish. Does anyone have any specific stocking suggestions?

Thanks in advance for your help.

I recently purchased some Flashing wrasses, carpentery and filamentosus. These fish are very beautiful,do net get large and do not bother other species.Just a thought for your situation.

Cardinal Fish come to mind. Specifically Threadfin cardinals (love the blue eyes), Yellow Stripe, Orange Stripe, Candy Stripe. Swissguard Basslets are nice too if the wallet permits.

Chalk bass are cool little fish too. I like the flashed wrasse idea as well, active and beautifully colored....

Anthias can go in a 75.

Many to chose from...but if you are going to do any wrasses, I would do multiple of them.

Firefish, blennies, hawkfish, dwarf angels, basslets, assessors, clowns

You have alot of choices, but it all comes down to what you like.

Only tangs for that tank are tomini, kole or yellow but yellow can get aggressive.

Anthias can go in a 75.
True, but do be aware that the hardiest anthias also can be quite boisterous (if not aggressive) toward other fish, which may not fit with the OP's desire for a peaceful tank.

The same is true for many tangs, including kole tangs and, I would assume, tomini's, both of which are usually thought of as relatively peaceful. Mine is the boss of my tank and is quite rough on newcomers.

Thanks everyone. I like the look of a Purple Tilefish, but don't have any experience with them. I'll check that out.

I didn't know that some Anthias could be on the aggressive side. Does anyone have a recommendation for some that are fairly hardy but would get along with Dartfish and Cardinals?

I'd also be interested in reading what you all feed these types of fish.

Thanks again.
