Stocking for a 30 gallon tall

30 tall + 15 gallon sump (about 35 gallons of water total)

It's going to be a peaceful tank. Here's the fish I would like to have:

1 Banggai Cardinalfish
1 Purple firefish
1 neon goby
3-4 skunk cleaner shrimp
1 Yashia Hasa/pistol pair
1 yellow clown goby

I'm wondering if this is pushing my limit, especially with all of the cleaner shrimp. My gut tells me I should eliminate either the Yashia Hasa or Purple firefish but I wanted to get opinions first.

We have a 29g tank and a 15g sump with skimmer and chaeto and 29 lbs live rock. We have 3 peppermint shrimp, assorted turbos that have bred, RBTA, 2 small Banngai, one 2 inch maroon clown, and a 6 line wrasse. We plan on pulling out the maroon and adding a pair of clowns and a yellow clown goby. So far so good and were told with our skimmer etc that the bioload is fine. Do you have live rock?

I have 13 lbs of live rock and about 15 lbs of tonga and base (dead rock). I will be running an ASM G-1X.

I love the cleaner shrimp. They add so much personality to the tank and provide a good source of coral food (eggs). I'd rather scratch a few fish off my list to make room for the cleaners. Even if that means supplemental feedings.

Cleaners often hide a lot. Do you have the shrimp already? If not, don't assume you'll see them much. I would think in that size tank, a pair would satisfy your shrimpy needs. Fish list seems fine. Great in fact. Good luck.

Go with a pair, they are much more outgoing as a pair so you will see them more. They will also spawn regularly as a pair which give you free fish food (just add two and they will figure out the gender thing). We had a trio for a little while due to one being rehomed in with the other pair. The pair really did not tolerate the other guy, not that they killed him but there was some chasing going on.

my cleaner shrimp almost never hides... took him a few hrs to get adjusted initially but now that i've had him he is always out in the open.
