Stocking list

I have a 75 gallon tank. It is stocked with a Kole tang, clownfish(x2), and firefish goby. It also has some zoas, frogspawn, birdnest, brain coral. I was trying to round out the fish stocking list and I was wondering if anyone had an additional fish suggestion. A fish that hugs the substrate or rocks might be cool. A fish that has some kind of interesting behavior would also be a plus. I have lots of open cave structure too.

In my tank I have a solon fairy, tammenicki, pink margin, naokis, exquisite and a gray head. You may want to check tank size recommendation but all get along pretty well. Browse live aquaria there are many wrasse's

I also like to watch my long nose hawkfish. They like to perch on gorgs and corals. Some on my list may eat inverts.

I think i'm going to follow your advice on the wrasse. I didn't realize how many wrasses i have to choose from. The grey head wrasse looks pretty different from anything I have now. Do you have any special recommendations on wrasse care? What do you feed your wrasses? Do they need to be in schools or are they ok by themselves?

Most wrasses do not need any type of special food they will readily take prepared foods and frozen. I feed mine flake, pellet and frozen foods. Some do require a sand bed that is deep enough for them to bury themselves at night. As mentioned before Live aquaria does a pretty good job at descriptions and will list any special needs or concerns.

They do not need to be kept in schools. some folks will keep a harem, a male with multiple females. This will cause the male to flash, brighter color, it is a courtship thing.

A couple of the more common ones to stay away from IMO due to aggression are the sixline and the christmas wrasse. The christmas wrasse can be sold as a few different type of wrasses. If you must get one I would recommend trying to positively get a H. Claudia, they are the least aggressive.

As a new reefer I would also suggest staying away from leopard wrasses. They can be difficult to get to eat prepared foods.Good luck just my 2 cents.

+1 to the longnose hawkfish, great personalities.

I would suggest that you consider having a blenny and a goby. Blennies like perching on rocks or peaking out of holes. The are generally not that colorful. Many have loads of personality.

You might think of getting a chromis for a fish that swims in the water column.

Another possibility is a fairy basslet also called a royal gamma.

I love the Hawkfish flame angels, but not sure how well they do in a tank stocked full of coral.
