Hi All, I just ordered one of my dream fish...a juvenile Chevron Tang. I will be adding this fish to my 140 (72"X18"X25). Currently I only have a Purple Tang and a Maldives Lyretail Anthias. I know the big concern is adding the Chevron to the tank with a resident Purple Tang. This PT is not aggressive. I previously had a Yellow and Hippo Tang in the tank with him and he was being bullied so I sold both of them and kept the PT. So, in addition to moving the live rock around I was considering adding another tang to the mix or possibly multiple tangs. I know based on my tank size I should probably not add more than 1 additional tang but have seen/heard of people having success adding multiple Yellow Tangs. I was considering trying to add 3 small yellow tangs. Looking for thoughts or suggestions.

I have 9 yellows, then added the chevron, then blues then purple then Achilles. I'm sure there will be some initial chasing by the established purple, but that should dissapate within 48 hours or so. The Chevron usually are independent and not schooling tangs, so they kind of do their own thing.

If you go with the yellows make sure they are of sufficient size (similar) to the purple so they can hold their own.

I added small yellows (5) after having established Medium yellows, and it was a couple of days till the larger yellows laid off the small ones.

But then I added the Purple, who was on the small size, and none of the tangs even chased him.

The Chevron (small) went in with the small yellows, and the larger yellow ignored him.

Good Luck. Chevron is a fantastic fish.
