Stocking questions

maybe 240 will be to big but if you have the room 8' x 25" x 24 they are nice. A 180 is an other nice alternative.
As for feeding gold fish I would stay away from gold fish as long as you can buy damsels or something gold fish can carry diseases into your tank and bottom line really no nutrition value. Plus why would you feed a fresh water fish to a saltwater fish.

I have to agree with the above poster about feeding goldfish to saltwater fish. There is no nutritional value to the saltwater fish and also can cause premature death. With that said I would go with Saltwater Live feeders. You can find them on alot of different websites. Also I have heard people being successful with using Mollies for breeding for the fry which would be saltwater fish all around and just keep feeding the baby fry and not the adults originally bought. I cant fully say that is a great idea because I havent done it and wont back it 100% like I would Live saltwater feeders.

As far as stock list I would take the panther grouper off the list completely. Soldier fish are also good tank mates for the Lions.

I have to agree with everyone else feeding goldfish is not a nutritious meal for the lionfish. i remember something else about the fish not being able to properly digest the goldfish so over time their digestive track develops issues.

BEFORE picking up the lionfish make sure it is eating. have the LFS show you the fish eat. find out exactly what the store is feeding the fish. some people have stated that is has taken a few days to get their lions to go from live to frozen others have never really been succesful. fu man chus have a very low survival rate in tanks so good idea for you to just go for the volitans.
